About Us

We ‘The Rajasthani -Indians Society of Ireland’ are one of the social and ethnic community organisations in Republic of Ireland. Our society is a non-political, non-religious and non-profitable organisation. It was established on the Sunday, 18th March 2008 in a ‘general get-together event’ in Swords, Co. Dublin which was called by the key persons of the ‘Rajasthani-Indians Community’ in Ireland.

A majority of our members are ethnic -immigrants from the State of Rajasthan in India. The State of Rajasthan is well known for its unique culture and traditions. The unique culture of Rajasthan embodies in its languages, arts, folk dances, dresses, traditions, customs and festivals (please click on link Information about Rajasthan that is provided in right colum of webpage). As ethnic-immigrants, we and our children typically face cultural clashes of east and west world while living in Ireland. Our members have also limited opportunities for better socialisation in a manner conforming with own social and culural values. We wish to preserve and promote our social and cultural values and heritage of motherland / country of origin while living in Ireland. As immigrant parents, we feel compelled to pass own social and cultural values in ours offspring.

"Do not surrender your own identity ....when you make your life here .. do not forget the country or the culture you come from, bring your stories, your music, your games - enrich our lives" - Mr Justice Bryan McMahon, Former High Court Judge, Ireland (Source: The Irish Times, Saturday 10/12/2011, p2).
